Meet The Patriarchs: A Band Born from Friendship and Rhythm

For nearly a decade, the three members of The Patriarchs have been making music together, crafting a sound built on passion, camaraderie, and a shared love for great songs. After a brief hiatus, Bruce and Sean reunited in early 2021, reigniting their creative spark and curating a dynamic playlist of originals and covers that spoke to their musical roots.

As their vision took shape, they knew something was missing—the heartbeat of the band. That’s when they reached out to Greg, whose drumming and percussion completed the trio’s signature sound.

United by a unique bond—their friendship formed through their children's sports activities—they found the perfect name: The Patriarchs. More than just musicians, they’re fathers, friends, and performers with a deep appreciation for the music that moves them. Since the fall of 2021, they’ve been hitting the stage, delivering high-energy performances that celebrate their musical journey.

Come experience The Patriarchs—where every song tells a story.

Bruce Gibson

An Americana singer-songwriter based out of the north metro Atlanta area, Bruce’s earliest musical influences were John Denver and Lennon/McCartney. He has incorporated these strong songwriting inspirations into his own song compositions.

Bruce creates lyric-centric songs with themes ranging from relationship, romance, family, strength, nature, heartache, and tenacity. His musical style draws from folk, gospel, country, R&B, and rock. One reviewer writes, “His voice gives the song soul, and all the instruments bring it all together”.

Working with producer Chris Cunningham at Basecamp Studios in Bozeman, Montana, Bruce recorded 2 original solo albums: Love & Lust & Hopes & Dreams & Fears (2010) and Moments in Between (2015).

Sean Allan

Singer-songwriter Sean Allan was drawn to music from a very young age. He remembers CCR’s Cosmo’s Factory being his favorite album (8-track tape) when he was 3. Although he enjoyed many styles of music, it was rock that inspired him to start playing guitar at age 13 and compose his first song shortly thereafter.

Sean has been performing solo and with various projects since the late 80’s, and co-founded and fronted the south Florida regional progressive rock band Willard Teft throughout the 90’s.

A few years after moving to Georgia in 2006, Sean began showcasing his original songs at open mics and singer-songwriter nights; building a network of musician friends and acquaintances which lead to solo gigs at various establishments throughout the metro Atlanta area. He was introduced to Bruce by a mutual “musician dad” friend in 2014 and joined the Bruce Gibson Band on bass guitar in 2015.

Sean still plays solo gigs but prefers the on-stage camaraderie of The Patriarchs.

Greg Gibbs

Drummer/percussionist Greg Gibbs provides the backbeat and foundation of The Patriarchs’ set. Greg began performing with Bruce and Sean in 2014 as a member of The Bruce Gibson Band.

A percussionist since the 5th grade, Greg enjoys a wide variety of musical styles. He’s always on the lookout for interesting instruments to use in his acoustic percussion setup. Keep an eye out for his version of a Shuitar (percussion guitar) at upcoming performances!

Greg was on hiatus in 2023 to pursue some higher education, but rejoined The Patriarchs in 2024.

In addition to The Patriarchs, Greg has been playing drums at his church in Marietta since 2011.
